Residential Project
St Johns Wood
Truly Lighting was recently appointed by the client to create a lighting scheme for this stunning family home in St Johns Wood. The home underwent a comprehensive renovation, which was completed in 2022, creating a striking space with unique architectural features.
The brief was to introduce a subtle lighting scheme to enhance the gorgeous features of the home while also creating a comfortable atmosphere. The clients were keen to keep the scheme simple and minimalist, without it being too complex, so that it would still feel like a lived-in family home with user friendly controls for everyday use.
The lighting design created by Truly Lighting encompasses many different lighting features throughout the house, including a mixture of decorative and architectural lighting which work together to compliment the interiors and highlight the features of the house.
Concealed joinery and shelf lighting cleverly highlights books, décor, and the bottles in the home bar to add a dramatic touch and draw the eye without being intrusive, while the impressive spiral staircase is lit with a soft glow from a concealed light to provide wayfinding. The summer house is set in a warm golden glow, while garden lights illuminate the brick walls by the BBQ and seating areas, creating another dining and entertainment area.
The colour temperature has been set at 2700K throughout, providing a warm glow so that the family can benefit from a soft lighting setting during the evening. Truly Lighting has used many layers of lighting from the recessed downlights to the pendants, wall lights and floor recessed uplights to create a variety of mood settings to suit each space.
From bright daytime settings to an intimate evening setting for dining and relaxing, this completely custom scheme has met the needs of the family whilst delivering a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
