Mayfair

V Mayfair is a luxury gym, fitness and wellness centre based in the capital city’s most desirable area. Blending traditional routes of exercise with innovative health and wellness services, V defines itself as a ‘haven for people to find solace and discover transformation’.

Found on Berkeley Square, the space has undergone a significant transformation to create the impressive and exclusive wellness destination.

Truly Lighting were appointed as lighting designers for the project. The Truly Lighting team worked closely with the project architects LXA, alongside Rob Clift and the client to help bring the visuals to life for the stunning health club.

To create an immediate wow factor, recessed LED slots were used in the entrance and to frame the backlit ‘V’ behind the reception desk. Within the club, backlit mirrors create a soft, even light – eliminating shadows and creating a complimentary illumination.

Lighting in between the timber panels helped to light the space and also create interest and different levels of lighting.

Due to the ceiling constraints most of the lighting was suspended.  Linear and circular LED pendants were used to create the general lighting and to also identify the different zones.

As part of the huge renovation, a beautiful Pilates studio is now housed in what was an underground car park. The wellness space offers the option to have the ceiling lighting turned off, and simply the backlit mirrors to illuminate the studio. This provides a soft and flattering light and avoids glare in the client’s eyes when lying on the machines.

As well as the exercise areas, the changing rooms had a huge transformation.  Concealed LED lighting above the lockers, within the joinery, backlit mirrors and decorative wall lights help to enhance the luxurious space and create a soft, warm lighting effect.
